| Coach Development Program |

So our members (both junior and senior) can better enjoy the game of cricket, we’ll be running a comprehensive coaching program for the upcoming season. This will be our second season of this program, and it continues to be developed and improved thanks to member feedback. The program is based on the Coach-the-Coaches (CTC) principle. That is, we get experts to teach our coaches how to teach the players. We are very excited about this program and urge all coaches to attend. It should make a difference to your ability to impart knowledge, and hopefully that will make your life easier, and will result in greater enjoyment for the players as well as greater on-field success. The extensive program features former NSW and Australian bowler Wayne Holdsworth as the pace bowling coach; former Tasmanian and Australian XI wicketkeeper Mark Atkinson as the wicket-keeping/fielding/spin bowling coach; and former first grade opening bat and Petersham captain Graham Doig as the batting coach. New this year will be a CTC Player Analysis & Correction component in which Club Coach (and founding member of SHCC) Glenn Holdstock will show coaches how to discover players’ technical problems and – importantly – how to remedy them. Summer Hill Cricket Club will cover the total cost of this program, thanks to the kind assistance of chief sponsor Canterbury & Hurlstone Park RSL. Club Coach: The club coach is Glenn Holdstock. As well as running the “Planning a Coaching Session” clinics and the “Player Analysis & Correction” component, Glenn will be able to offer assistance to budding coaches and help reinforce the messages from the coaching program. Coaching Coordinator: The coordinator is Chris Maher. Please make sure he has your details so he can keep you updated on session dates and other important coaching information. Chris can also put you in touch with the club coach. Please email him at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Level Ones: All coaches should have Level One Accreditation from Cricket Australia – it’s not time consuming to get (less than a day), and you’ll learn a lot about coaching in general and coaching cricket in particular. Be sure to take the opportunity to get one, if you haven’t already. Email Chris and he’ll put you on an upcoming list. The club will cover the costs.
